Design has been at the core of IKEA product development from the early years, and we are proud of our Swedish heritage, where function and beauty work in harmony in every product. Today at IKEA we are on an exciting journey to offer desirable and affordable design, create better products and better homes for many more customers around the world as we continue our expansion, meet new needs and challenges.
As Range & Product Design Leader, in the Range and Product Design Matrix at the core of IKEA product development, your main assignment is to lead, promote and inspire the Material and Expression Design agenda throughout IKEA. The purpose is to secure the preconditions for our product development organisation to deliver a complete and inspiring range offer that truly represents IKEA identity at the lowest price.
You will create prerequisites for working with styles and trends in colours, materials, patterns, and finishes (CMF), to unleash creativity, build competence, stretch innovation and sustainability, and enable the development of better products that strengthen the IKEA Identity.
You are a key player in the transformation of knowledge and insights in life at home, into materials, finishes, patterns, and colours, and you act as competence centre or an ambassador for how to interpret and implement global styles and CMF trends in the IKEA context, always promoting a strong IKEA Identity.
You facilitate and enable common decisions to happen across our product development organisation in connection to styles and CMF trends with the ambition to secure a rich and well-coordinated offer across the total range, and in close collaboration with the Production and Samples team, you are a key contributor to the pre-production and development of patterns, colours, materials, and surfaces to be utilized by the product development organisation across the total offer.
You are a main contributor to the development of material expression frameworks and other sub-strategies within Range and Product Development and have a close collaboration with IKEA’s internal capabilities, development teams, innovation teams, manufacturers, and suppliers to identify, evaluate and qualify new materials and finishes for future use.
To make a difference in this assignment you are inspired by the IKEA Identity and able to forward that inspiration and energy to others. You are also a positive, including and curious development partner with a strong can-do attitude. You enjoy working with and through others and to find new and creative ways to ensure execution. We would like you have a strong interest in and ability to formulate yourself both visually and verbally.
You are well organised and hold the ability to manage and overview the complete range offer, on a holistic as well as on a detailed level.
We will like you to have strong interest in and feeling for design, styles and trends in materials, colours, patterns, and finishes. Furthermore, you´ve a strong interest in and knowledge about interior architecture, visual merchandising, and interior colour design. You are inspired by Democratic design and the IKEA identity, and you have appreciation for the balance between creative and business opportunities. We also like you to have good communication skills, both visual and verbal.
We want you to have at least three years of experience and proven track record in similar tasks or assignments. Based on previous experience you know how to lead in an inspiring way and how to make things happen by showing the way forward towards a common vision.
If we get the pleasure to meet with you, we would like to see some of your portfolio that you think would give us a good idea of who you are aesthetically and professionally.
